Gunnar is Managing Partner and an active Board Member at Groth & Co, playing a central role in driving the firm’s long-term development. Since joining the company in 1967, he has been a key figure in Groth & Co’s growth and renewal, including serving as CEO between 1995 and 2016.
With a background as a trade mark attorney and former Head of Groth & Co’s Trade Mark Department, Gunnar has advised several of Sweden’s leading listed companies in developing, managing, and optimising their intellectual assets. His work is characterised by a strategic business perspective, integrating IP into clients’ long-term business planning and international expansion.
Gunnar has long focused on business development, leading the establishment of Groth & Co’s operations in Alicante, Munich, and Beijing, as well as the acquisition of several smaller IP firms. Through his ability to combine strategic vision with action-oriented leadership and long-term perspective, he has helped shape Groth & Co into one of the Nordic region’s most respected IP firms.
As part of his commitment to advancing the industry, Gunnar founded Signumpriset® – the Nordic region’s leading trade mark award – in 1995, recognising companies and organisations for long-term, successful brand management. He also established Varumärkesdagen® and Patentdagen®, two recurring IP conferences that today stand as the largest of their kind in the Nordic region.
Gunnar serves on the boards of both Groth & Co and Skriptor AB, as well as in the firm’s management team. Throughout his career, he has had a significant influence on the development of both the industry and the firm itself, with a consistent focus on quality, professionalism, and long-term client relationships.
